Welcome! Day7 (Aug 15) of North to Alaska

passenger visits better countries, he may learn to improve his own. And if
fortune carries him to worse, he may learn to enjoy it.” – Samuel

First thanks to all who have added a comment and/or sent an email. I do hope you are enjoying this blog as much as I am creating it.
We stayed at the Econolodge in Hinton, Alberta. It
was cheap. The room was nice and we slept well but the breakfast left much to
be desired. Cassie did have her coffee and toast and I had a bowl of cereal but
nothing hot or even warm. It was cheap.
We then filled the car with gas at 1.239 per
liter and headed out at 8:55. Cassie again picked the route (remember I owed
her big time for the rafting). I tried to get my GPS to follow her route but
when I entered the intermediate town it showed the town as a red dot but did
not show any roads to or from the town. So off we went using Cassie’s maps. As
it turned out the road was pretty good with a few constructions slowdowns. We
made good time and actually stopped in Grande Cache at 10:30 and had breakfast
at an A & W. From there we headed to Grande Prairie then on to Dawson Creek,
the start of the Alaska Highway.
Part of British Columbia is in the Mountain Time
Zone, Dawson Creek is in this part of BC. While all of Alberta is in the
Mountain Time Zone it utilizes daylight savings time while the part in BC does
not so we gained an hour. So time wise this was a very short travel day for us.
We thought we were getting here at 3:15 but actually arrived at 2:15. So we
relaxed and rested from the prior two days of physical activities.
Well I think this is enough filler so I will end
this now knowing tomorrow we will be on the Alaska Highway.
